Antonio M. Rosell, P.E., AICP

Director and Project Manager

"The frameworks we build as a society help determine the types of interactions and relationships that can occur between people, and with our spaces and environments ...

The purpose of my work is to help create inviting, interesting, convivial spaces that respond to people's needs and aspirations, and that foster interaction and connection between us ..."

Antonio Rosell is founder and Director of Community Design Group. He is an Urban Planner and Civil Engineer with more than fifteen years of planning and engineering experience, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Minnesota and a member of AICP, the American Institute of Certified Planners.

A recognized and respected place-making, urban design, transportation, and community engagement practitioner, his advice is often sought by public officials, neighborhood and community organizations, bicycle and pedestrian advocates, and other consulting firms.

Antonio provides training on bicycle and pedestrian planning topics for practicing engineers and planners, and is also a regular guest lecturer at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute, as well as a Fellow at Intermedia Arts' Institute for Community Cultural Development (ICCD).

He has led numerous urban planning and community engagement projects, including provision of design and technical services to Twin Cities Metro-area jurisdictions as part of the $25 million Federal Non-motorized Transportation Pilot (NTP) grant coordinated by Transit for Livable Communities. Other recent projects include our firm's completion of the City of Edina's first Comprehensive Bicycle Transportation Plan (establishing a comprehensive long-range bicycle transportation plan for a first-ring suburban community of 47,000 residents), and of the City of Minneapolis 38th Street and Chicago Avenue Small Area / Corridor Framework Plan (a policy document covering land use, transportation and urban design guidelines for four neighborhoods in South Minneapolis with a combined population of more than 23,000 people).

Antonio's professional focus includes pedestrian and bicycle mobility, economic development, urban design, transportation planning, and community participation processes.
