"My sense of professional responsibility as a transportation planner compels me to question traditional priorities - we typically design our streets for the vehicle and occasionally accommodate people ...
What if we designed these streets for people and made accommodations for the automobile?
I firmly believe that a robust transportation system is the foundation of a great community ...
This system should facilitate choices where affordability trumps convenience and mobility is safe, affordable and accessible for everyone."
Tony Hull is a Community Design Group Partner. He is a multi-modal transportation planner, with a focus on pedestrian needs and traffic calming. Tony has worked as a principal planner at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) in Columbus Ohio for the past seven years and has prior planning experience with the Central Ohio Transit Authority and city of Hilliard, Ohio.
His work has focused on balancing transportation outcomes to foster equitable access to mobility and improve the quality of life in communities. These efforts include facilitating traffic calming in diverse communities, community engagement in the planning process, educating local staff and elected officials, and spearheading regional pedestrian planning efforts.
More recently Tony has been instrumental in pushing for a complete streets approach in central Ohio. His work efforts have contributed to shifting priorities in the Columbus metro region where the City of Columbus has dedicated $50 million in bonding money to connect sidewalks and promote walkability.
