Learn more about our approach to placemaking
We travel to take care of our daily needs - to go to work, get the groceries, get our children to school or daycare. Though we sometimes choose our mode of travel out of habit, we often weigh several factors before deciding on our options: how convenient is it? How long will it take? Is it safe to choose this mode or go this route? Can I see something interesting on the way if I travel in this way? Will I maybe see a friend?
Effective placemaking looks at transportation through the wider lens of "mobility," which the dictionary defines as "the ability to move freely and easily."
Community Design Group's approach to transportation prioritizes the mobility needs of people over preconceived notions about what effective transportation must look like. Though we have grown, in our society, to think of transportation as something that must almost always center around cars, mobility is much simpler.
How do we make it more convenient to get from point A from point B? How do we make it easier for adults to get to work, for children to get to school, for families to get their groceries in away that improves our health and wellbeing, and that helps us create more vital, engaging and interesting places?
