CDG is leading planning, design, and community engagement efforts for the Phase 2 expansion of Nice Ride Minnesota.
Project sponsors are considering a tripling of the system's number of bikes and kiosks as well as expansion into neighboring Saint Paul and adjoining municipalities in time for the 2011 season.
We have been hired to provide community engagement services for communities throughout Minneapolis and Saint Paul; to develop Phase 2 expansion criteria and planning recommendations; to develop network distribution and kiosk assignment; and to prepare detailed site plans for installation of the kiosks in their final locations.
The community engagement process developed for this project educates citizens about the planning and system considerations that have to be addressed in order to support a sustainable expansion of the system; offers interactive opportunities to gather questions and suggestions from participants; and includes mapping activities that efficiently capture citizen preferences for location of stations. The information gathered is quickly processed and distributed electronically through the Nice Ride website and is then carried forward as a foundational element for the planning recommendations that follow and which will help determine final kiosk locations for 2011 - and meeting the organization’s goal of creating a responsive, effective and successful expansion of the system.
