CDG led the update of the City of Fitchburg Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan for 2017. The Plan offers infrastructure and programming recommendations to improve walking and bicycling conditions in Fitchburg and make walking and riding a bicycle more convenient and enjoyable travel choices for people who live, work, and play in the city.

The resulting plan provides detailed route, infrastructure and policy recommendations for future bicycle and pedestrian investments. CDG worked closely with the City of Fitchburg toward plan adoption, and recommended performance measures to help the City track progress during implementation.

The project team also provided engagement services, connecting with and listening to Fitchburg residents to receive comments and guidance about existing conditions, user routes, needs and destinations, and to help identify priorities for bicycling and walking.

Overall, CDG’s work has allowed the City of Fitchburg to plan for a healthier, active future for its citizens. Planned bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure will help spur economic development, connect neighbors, and attract a new generation of families to Fitchburg.
